It is 1:12 AM in California, so I guess that means its still evening in Hawaii - okay I'm off my ADD tangent - about the project. I have begun writing a couple of letters: one is to Ian Arthur (VP of Marketing at Frontier Airlines), the other is to Matt from "Where the Hell is Matt?" (check out his videos on youtube, just type in Where the Hell is Matt). Not a super exciting update for the progress of the book - but a good friend of mine pointed out that I didn't really answer this question in my first blog post (which incidentally is where you can find more general info about the project if your interested):
Why am I writing this book?
Well Kelly, I originally started thinking about writing the book when I was bored in the first two weeks of college, wishing I had something to do. Strangely, the more I thought about the concept, the more it frightened me. I thought:
1) I suck at writing - how the hell am I going to make it through an entire book?!
2) Who on God's green earth is going to be interested in reading it?
3) Honestly, what do I have to gain?
So for a while I tossed around the idea - couldn't figure out any answers to the above questions, and finally arrived at the following conclusion: what do I have to loose? The worst that can happen is that only I actually want to read the book, but I'm sure that there is some experience to be gained right?! I began to write, then I realized that my current knowledge base isn't even close to what I needed, so I started writing to those that inspired me, looking for advice and the opportunity to get their perspectives on life. So originally, the book was an excuse to do something and possibly the opportunity to get on an airplane to go see people. It has become an opportunity to meet inspirational people and find the value in life. I have come to love the idea of seeking those that follow their dreams and never look twice - its an exhilarating feeling, never really knowing where your headed, simply risking it all and praying that you'll come out for the better on the other side.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and for stopping by (especially to my -now- four followers! It means alot you guys, so thank you), God Bless,
Matt
